AIM Architecture has created a cosmetics store in China that adds a sense of nostalgia to the retail experience.

The project is set in a mixed-use office park designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop, and is designed to represent a romanticised 1970s image of an office space.

The open office floor plan is organised by loose-set meeting rooms made of embossed glass, with big meeting tables used for product display. The repetition of the desk units and cabinets create a rhythmic flow, leading consumers around the core of the space where retro-futuristic telephone rooms add further intrigue to the retail experience.

Bright colour tones, soft carpets and different textures further add to the experience and illusion of time wandering between the past and present.

This project has been longlisted in the large retail interior category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
