Manmade Studio has created a new take on an informal prayer space to bring peace and contentment.

The design brings a new twist to the masallah (informal prayer space) by reimagining traditional form with implementation of the theory of atomism found in traditional Islamic latticework (mashrabiyya). It takes the logic of modular construction to a literal extent, in order to convey a sense of peace and transcendence.

The work takes a new shape by interpreting the concept of gradation in a visual and spatial sense; the installation's colour starts from a rich reddish copper/rose gold, working through to a bright silver aluminium, creating the physical space as a maze of transcendence that provides solace and sanctum as people walk farther inside.

This project has been longlisted in the installation design category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
