Barber Osgerby has designed the Paddle Handle in London, United Kingdom.

This project was previewed by designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby of Barber Osgerby with Olivari at Salone del Mobile in September 2021.

The original prototype for Paddle Handle was developed from the observation that door handles are more often pushed downwards with the palm of the hand than they are gripped.

Based on this insight, a form has evolved in which the top area of contact is increased. The resulting handle is intended for use throughout a space, on both windows and doors.

The design quietly compliments all styles of the surrounding architecture and ensures a high level of detail is extended to even the smallest, but arguably, most high-contact elements of a space.

This project has been longlisted in the homeware design category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
