Studio Kate has created a workspace in Sydney as a base from which to develop further creative endeavours.
The project is located in an 1800s building that has been meticulously restored by way of upgrading the ground-level site to house the business's new design studios and luxury retail boutique.
Original architectural elements were uncovered and celebrated through the process of renovating the historically significant space.
Period charm and a sense of the 'perfectly imperfect' informed the design and material selection. Elements such as natural glazed terracotta tiles, chiselled marble accents and hand-trowelled plaster walls and arches sit alongside custom brass-framed glazing, reclaimed Italian marble flagging and weathered timber beams as new interventions sensitively incorporated within the heritage framework.
