NEXT Architects designed the Windesheim Estate in Overijssel, The Netherlands.

This project is a renovation of the historic Windesheim Estate that has been enriched with eight new bridges that appear and disappear in the landscape.

Together, the elegant arch bridges make a series of recognisable connection points and seating areas on the walking route through the park.

The design is not a literal construction, but rather a contemporary interpretation of the style characteristics of the historic estate.

With the renovation of the estate and the realisation of the bridges, a new chapter with a contemporary signature has been added to Windesheim, once carefully anchored in the past.

This project has been longlisted in the landscape project category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
