Nina+Co has designed Monc in London, United Kingdom.

This project is an eyewear store on London's Chiltern Street utilising mycelium, cornstarch foam, bio-acetate and recycled plastic.

Monc's first store design needed to be mindful of its initial short-term lease, and multi-functional to enable the brand to diversify its offering. A flexible space to adapt from a shop by day to hosting events in the evening, with main elements transferable to a future site.

Every element was scrutinised to meet the high sustainability criteria of an ethical designer, a resolute client, and savvy customers. Circularity was key; almost everything we brought into that building was entirely bio-based or recycled.

The store was designed for disassembly so every element can be repurposed, recycled or returned to the earth as nourishment.

This project has been shortlisted in the sustainable interior category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
