ZAV Architects has designed the Center for Handy Skills in Hormuz, Iran.

This project is an adaptable centre for education aimed at hands-on learning of skills on a natural touristic island.

Educational activities happen on the ground level while training facilitators are accommodated on the first level.

Adaptability towards change is attained by creating spaces that are non-dependent on structure, isolation layers, utilities and access.

A concrete structure that supports prefab concrete slabs bears the weights while a scaffolding structure supports a canopy that protects units from precipitation and creates independent access to each unit.

This project has been longlisted in the sustainable building category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
