EME157 has updated The Three Little Pigs – Cork House in Madrid, Spain.
The intervention updates a house built in the 1990s on the outskirts of Madrid that consisted of a cubical volume made of red brick, interrupted by a double-height oblique porch – where 100-year-old pine trees surround the house.
"It seemed important to us to blend in with the surroundings and therefore, our starting point was the use of cork as the main material of the project, covering the facades of the cube," said EME157.
On the interior, a sliding cork door runs lengthwise and divides the entire house – creating different relationships between the server and served spaces – depending on the needs of the owners.
