Anna Heringer

Anna Heringer will join the sustainability panel for Dezeen Awards

Anna Heringer is a German architect, educator, activist and founder of eponymous practice Studio Anna Heringer.

Heringer is known for projects that prioritise empowering and improving the lives of communities using local materials and labour. Notable among her works is the Anandaloy Centre in Bangladesh, a pioneering project that won the prestigious Obel Award in 2020 and recently named by Dezeen as the most significant building of 2020.

Her work has been exhibited globally, with showcases at renowned venues such as the Venice Architecture Biennale, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the V&A Museum in London.

Heringer has received numerous accolades, including the Aga Khan Award for Architecture and the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture and was recognised with the Order of Merit by Germany's Federal President.

Heringer has also been awarded fellowships such as the Loeb Fellowship and RIBA International Fellowship, as well as an honorary professorship by UNESCO. She has taught at academic institutions such as Harvard University and ETH Zurich.

In addition to her architectural career, Heringer is the CEO of Dipdii Textiles, a women's cooperative focused on fair fashion and textile art.
