Urbanmakers and Selva & Maugin Architects have designed B09, a social housing project in Bordeaux, France.
B09 is a 54-unit social housing project located along the Garonne River in Bordeaux's Bastide-Niel district. Developed into a pre-defined architectural form shaped by MVRDV's planning vision, the building balances urban density with domestic intimacy.
The facades in blonde brick and tiled sloping roofs reflect Bordeaux's historic textures, while generous loggias and rooftop terraces offer private outdoor spaces.
In addition, a generous ground-floor vestibule provides a pedestrian-friendly transition between city and home.
With its mineral palette, subtle detailing and emphasis on livability, B09 reinforces the identity of a dynamic new district while responding to the challenges of inclusive and sustainable urban housing.
This project has been longlisted in the housing category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
