CumuloLimbo Studio has transformed the kitchen interiors of Casa Carmen, a 1963 apartment in Madrid, Spain.
The Casa Carmen project revives a 1963, 220-square-metre flat in Madrid with a sustainable, reuse-focused approach.
The space is emptied to highlight a few key design elements; concrete beams and pillars are exposed and original finishes are restored.
At the heart of the open-plan layout is a striking island with a mustard-colored base and ceramic surface, serving as a visual and functional centrepiece, anchoring the kitchen and social area, encouraging interaction and fluid movement.
Opposite it, a multifunctional orange structure acts as a partition, corridor, shelving and sofa, while natural light enhances the island and integrated furniture conceals private areas.
This project has been longlisted in the kitchen interior category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
