EcoLogicStudio has designed Deep.Forest, a synthetic forest set within the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art.
Deep.Forest is a living interior that gives architectural form to photosynthesis and biodegradation as a circular process. It features 44 AIR reactors housing micro and macro algae cultures that capture 600g of CO2/day, equivalent to a small forest.

The algae metabolise CO2 into 400g of biomass daily, which is processed into biodegradable polymer for 3D printing.

The structure includes 20 3D-printed biodegraders, filled with 300kg of spent coffee grounds, colonised by mycelium that grows into synthetic trunks, storing carbon while creating architectural components.

The immersive installation explores five knowledge pathways – GAN-Physarum, Habitat.ONE, Synthetic Landscape Lab, DeepGreen and H.O.R.T.U.S – showcasing EcoLogicStudio's bio-digital design oeuvre.

This project has been longlisted in the installation design category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
