Bachmann Badie Architekten has designed the addition to the existing community centre and former fire station in Cologne, Germany.
This project is a lively place in Cologne's city centre, offering a wide range of cultural and educational activities to various people and is located in an ensemble of listed buildings, grouped around a central courtyard.
As part of the participatory refurbishment of the inner courtyard, a public wood workshop was created, which fits into this courtyard development as a new building block.
The new workshop complements the existing range of services and offers visitors the opportunity to build or repair their own furniture and objects.
This project has been longlisted in the civic project category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
