Atelier Apeiron has designed the Hengqin Culture and Art Complex, a group of buildings in Hengqin, China.
The design devised a strategy for creating an energetic complex capable of accommodating a multifunctional future and integrates nine functions as a whole, massive complex.
Wedged between residential towers and an open city park, the Hengqin Culture and Art Complex features a library, a concert hall, a cultural centre, an art gallery, a science museum and a civic centre.
The architect applied a geometric concept of inverted catenary to create three magnificent arches of differing shapes, articulating an architectural language.
As a result, each arch serves as a gateway to a different hall that is unique in both character and program.
This project has been longlisted in the mixed use project category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
