Colleen Healey Architecture has designed Hidden Meadow, a historic home in Washington DC, United States.
In this project, a 20th-century home gets an interior rebirth and an all-glass and Accoya-clad addition.
A 7.62 metre meadow, faced with a honeysuckle-clad trellis and a glass and Accoya clad addition, became the project's heart, mediating between old and new.
Inside, plaster walls, exposed structure and walnut accents intertwine with original features.
A sculpted kitchen ceiling conceals the structural depth of retained sleeping porches, while soft plaster unifies spaces.
In addition, custom doors, incorporating historic elements, partition the office.
This project has been longlisted in the house extension category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
