Nina+Co and ROAR have designed and renovated Nina's House in London, England.
Nina's House is a deep retrofit of a cold and uninspiring 1970s house, transforming it into a warm, low-energy, fossil fuel-free home that enables greater self-sufficiency for the family.
Using predominantly natural, local and recycled materials, the design celebrates what already exists – prioritising performance, beauty and circularity over demolition or extension.
Wrapped in carbon-negative cork and filled with light, texture and warmth, the home supports family life with joy and resilience.
Every detail – from salvaged joinery to edible planting – reflects a commitment to sustainability; a tactile, thoughtful home that sparks curiosity, connection and a new approach to retrofitting.
This project has been longlisted in the sustainable renovation category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
