Takt Project has designed Reunion with Memory, a series of furniture pieces featuring a rare rock known for its striking and unique appearance.
Daté Kan Stone is a stone formed 20 million years ago and has one of the rarest appearances in the world.
"At the request of Okurayama Studio, who quarries, processes and shapes the stone, we designed a series of furniture pieces, [including] chairs and benches," said Takt Project.
"The goal was to materialise Okurayama Studio's concept of 'Giving Life Back to the Mountain', which reflects their philosophy toward natural materials."
As a result, rather than designing with standardised and industrialised materials, this approach engages with materials through their connection to nature.
This project has been longlisted in the collectible design category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
