Estúdio Rain has designed the Rícino C series, a collection of lighting and furniture pieces crafted from their material-led research on castor oil bio-resin.

The Rícino C series introduces a new collection of lighting and furniture made from castor oil bio-resin, evolved to a naturally pigmented and composite material.

Since 2018, Estúdio Rain has explored this material through ongoing research in their atelier experimentations, driven by its aesthetic and technical potential and sustainable alternative to petroleum derivatives.

In this latest launch, the resin is combined with natural pigments and mineral aggregates to form a bio-composite with a striking visual diversity – ranging from smooth, translucent finishes to irregular textures.

Each piece is conceived as a robust, silent volume, defined by orthogonal lines and assembled with minimal fittings that accentuate the material's intriguing character.

This project has been longlisted in the sustainable design category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
