Robbie Walker has designed the Sawmill Treehouse in Mount Buller, Australia.
This project is a small one-bedroom house at the base of Mount Buller. Inspired by the trees, the four columns represent tree trunks and the slats catch light more randomly than a flat panel, more like the leaves on the trees.
"The site is the beginning of a gully where all of the street's water discharges," said Robbie Walker.
"The thought was to put the building up with the trees and out of the water."
To allow access to the small garage in the back corner of the site and to allow water during large storms to flow through the site, the building was raised off the ground, enhancing the "feeling of being up with the leaves in the trees."
This project has been longlisted in the small project category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
