BAT Studio has designed The Blooming Shed, a garden pavilion designed to support mental health and wellbeing at Chase Farm Hospital, in collaboration with the North London NHS Foundation Trust in London, England.

The Blooming Shed is a kinetic garden pavilion at Chase Farm Hospital, designed to support mental health through connection to nature.

Commissioned by the North London NHS Foundation Trust, the pavilion replaces a derelict structure with a flexible, timber-framed space featuring a unique sliding polycarbonate facade that opens fully to the surrounding garden.

Built using low-cost, low-carbon materials, the structure hosts therapeutic activities, meetings and mindfulness sessions.

Developed in close collaboration with clinicians and service users, The Blooming Shed embodies inclusive, sustainable design, creating a calm, restorative environment that blurs boundaries between indoors and out.

This project has been longlisted in the leisure and wellness project category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
