Cierto Estudio has designed La Comunidad Habitacional, a collective housing project in Barcelona, Spain.
La Comunidad Habitacional is a public housing project in Barcelona’s Illa Glòries that reimagines urban living through shared spaces, adaptability and architectural cohesion and is designed to foster collective living through spatial generosity and architectural flexibility.
Four plots create two volumes above a shared plinth, integrating seamlessly with the Eixample grid. Cierto developed the housing in Bloc A, creating communal walkways, a central patio and a shared rooftop, encouraging interaction and everyday sociability.
The homes are conceived as an adaptable sequence of rooms with no fixed hierarchy, offering configurations that respond to evolving needs.
Combining inclusive design with sustainable timber construction, the project proposes a new framework for contemporary, community-oriented urban housing.
This project has been shortlisted in the housing category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
