Krft has collaborated with Nicholas Hare Architects to design the new performance arts centre at Brighton College in Brighton, England.
Brighton College's brand new 3,300 square metre performance arts centre features a hybrid mix of studio spaces, classrooms, social spaces and a fully equipped 400-seat theatre, on a very compact site within the monumental campus.
This complex spatial puzzle required the building to extend beyond the site footprint, resulting in a dynamic, sculptural form – a dance move – clad in brick and flint on all facades and roofs.
As a result, the curved façade combines the Gilbert Scott-designed, neo-Gothic context with contemporary form, in a play of local and historical materials.
This project has been shortlisted in the cultural project category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
