Onze04 Architects has designed the Sports and Cultural Center Marie-Jose Perec and Josephine Baker in Rennes, France.
This project is a complex divided into two volumes (complex hall and dance hall) to allow the new public promenade to run through the building, connecting the existing facilities and the new complex with the surrounding neighbourhoods.
The multi-sports hall forms a rectangular plan covered by a textile roof with four peaks ranging from 13 metres to 28 metres at the highest point.
The textile covering provides even, constant light throughout the day. At night, its white fabric envelope transforms it into a backlit lantern, embodying the renewal of the entire sports and cultural centre and demonstrating its public amenity character.
This project has been shortlisted in the civic project category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
