Winner: Leisure and wellness interior of the year 2025. AAN Architects has designed the interiors of Moreprk Skyline, a skatepark in Shanghai, China.
Moreprk Skyline uses curvature as a medium to transform the spirit of freedom of movement into spatial form, reshaping the relationship between people and the city, gravity and the sky.
Inspired by skateboarding trails, this project is not only an extreme place for skaters, but also a three-dimensional theatre open to the city, writing a new urban narrative with dynamic trajectories.
Moreprk Skyline was also inspired by its own site and location; the space is located next to the South Train Station in the Xuhui District and the site itself is suspended from a building facing the Shanghai City Expressway in a suspended glass box that allows for unobstructed views.
Judges comments: "It's great to see a space with high commercial value used in a way that creates culture and community. It's filled with clever design details, from the way the ceiling mirrors the space below, to the way lighting and handrail details follow the same curvature. It's a fully immersive experience, translated across every element in the space."
