Winner: House renovation of the year 2025. Atelier Avondzon, in collaboration with Macadam Atelier, has designed and renovated Rinskopf in Ghent, Belgium.
Rinskopf is a bold urban renovation, seamlessly blending industrial aesthetics with sustainable design and abundant natural light.
Inspired by the industrial heritage of its surroundings, this project embraces a bold material palette featuring corrugated metal, exposed steel and raw concrete, balanced with existing wooden elements and refined colour choices.
In addition, the design prioritises abundant natural light, creating a strong connection between the street and the garden and a flawless integration of structure and interior.
"Sustainability is key, with an air-to-water heat pump, PV panels and rainwater harvesting," said Atelier Avondzon.
The result is a unique home that redefines industrial aesthetics in a residential context.
Judge comments: "This is a well-thought-out and clever example of how to upgrade an everyday home in a visually interesting, but usable way. The coherent and intriguing upgrade, united by corrugated-metal and an industrial aesthetic, elevates a run-of-the-mill, derelict home into a striking addition to the city."
