Peter Braithwaite Studio has designed B-Frame in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Affectionately named the B-Frame, this project began as a two-week design-build course and evolved into a private coastal residence.

Designed and constructed by members of the firm, the building emerged through an iterative, site-driven process embedded in the native bedrock.

Without a conventional client or timeline, B-Frame became a testing ground for alternative construction techniques, including prefabricated panelized cladding systems, custom-built on-site aluminium window walls and an exploratory structural system.

The result is a compact dwelling that balances experimental design with a warm, materially rich interior, fostering strong connections between inhabitation, landscape and environmental conditions.
