Stantec Architecture has designed the Buffalo Crossing Paul Albrechtsen Visitor Centre in Manitoba, Canada.

The Buffalo Crossing Paul Albrechtsen Visitor Centre is the new gateway to Winnipeg's FortWhyte Alive 660-acre nature preserve dedicated to environmental education and outdoor recreation.

Designed for Manitoba's extreme climate, its triangular form and orientation maximise solar harvesting in winter and passive shading in summer.

A high-performance building enclosure, mass timber construction and low-exergy energy sources, including a ground heat exchanger, enable exceptional energy efficiency and occupant comfort, targeting Manitoba's first commercial Passive House certification.

Indigenous design elements and regenerative landscaping honour the land: the Centre exemplifies sustainable design excellence, strengthening the connection between people and place, inspiring a more resilient future.
