LW Design has designed the interiors of Yu & Mi in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Yu & Mi Restaurant & Bar at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown Dubai draws inspiration from the Chinese Art Deco establishments of 1930s Shanghai.

A dark, atmospheric interior layers lacquer, decorative plaster, concrete, velvets and leather around a dramatic bar gantry conceived as a lacquered birdcage.

Angled brick walls and shifting floor finishes introduce movement and depth – while verticality and material contrast transform the compact footprint into a layered and intimate dining environment inspired by Shanghai's cosmopolitan past.
