The New Raw has designed Buoy.

Buoy transforms discarded maritime ropes from Rotterdam's harbour into sculptural public seating objects.

Developed together with local harbour maintenance and recycling networks, this project brings industrial maritime materials back into everyday urban life.

Resting between balance and instability, the forms echo the movement of floating maritime buoys, while subtly shifting with the weight of the body.

The current pieces emerge from a specific recovered batch of ropes, allowing the colour, texture and a number of objects to remain directly shaped by the material itself.
