HW Studio has designed Casa Tao in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Located in Puerto Vallarta, Casa Tao is a concrete refuge that reimagines shade as an emotional necessity.

Responding to the clients' desire for "a home evoking a Japanese museum," the architects turned their attention inward, avoiding direct exposure to the intense sun.

The design elevates the social areas into a floating volume to capture breezes from a nearby plaza – while bedrooms anchor the ground floor around a silent, contemplative courtyard.

Through tactile concrete and filtered light, the project embodies Junichirō Tanizaki’s philosophy, creating a sanctuary where shadow ennobles the space and daily life slows down.
