JAR Office has designed the Central restaurant in Brisbane, Australia.

Central was conceived as a high-performance Cantonese restaurant that could shift gears effortlessly – "from corporate power lunch to late-night rager" – while expanding Brisbane's relatively polite dining hours.

"The client’s ambition was clear: create a venue that felt as alive at midnight as it does at noon," said JAR Office.

"Central offers a city hungry for late-night venues a place that can seamlessly switch gears from a corporate power lunch to an up-late rager.

As a result, Central tells the story of a city coming of age, a venue that respects its past; its design sympathetic to heritage while keeping its gaze firmly on nights yet to come.
