Loft49 transforms a former chemical fibre factory in Hangzhou into a mixed-use creative district through adaptive reuse and selective new construction.

Two existing industrial buildings are retained and reactivated by converting former production routes into publicly accessible circulation systems, linking different levels through bridges and walkways.

Ground floors are opened to improve permeability, while new office buildings introduce flexible spaces for contemporary use.

Material strategies maintain traces of the original structures alongside clearly articulated new insertions.

The project redefines the site from a closed industrial compound into an open, connected urban environment that supports work, culture, and everyday public activity.
