Shisuo Design Office has designed Jiang Deng Lu in Anhui, China.

This project began with a deeply personal brief: to build a dignified gathering space for an elderly mother and visiting relatives in rural Anhui, while simultaneously serving as a memorial for the client's late father – a stonemason and master of the local Zouma Deng opera.

Floating above a sloped site, the home's angular volume is clad entirely in upcycled stainless steel offcuts and unused window prototypes, where the building's geometry was strictly reverse-engineered from these salvaged materials.

As a result, this surreal, industrial sanctuary creates a profound architectural dialogue between the father's heavy, traditional stonecraft and the son's lightweight, modern metalwork, transforming surplus components into a poetic bridge between reality and memory.
