Parallel Studio has designed the Lei Wa Lakom Library in Kazole Village, Zanzibar.

The Lei Wa Lakom Library is a socially driven educational project in Kazole Village, developed under the Parallel Gives program.

Conceived as part of a wider initiative to establish a network of learning nodes across the island, the library provides an accessible, flexible space for children and the community.

The design responds to climate and context through passive strategies, including shaded areas, cross-ventilation and filtered daylight.

By combining simplicity, cultural references and environmental sensitivity, this project creates a welcoming environment that supports education, interaction and long-term community engagement.
