Wadhal has renovated The Stepwell House in London, United Kingdom.

Wadhal has redefined a two-storey London flat into a home of three parts: an art gallery, a private dwelling and an outdoor stepwell.

"The Stepwell House examines how both ancient and contemporary elements alike can be recontextualised," said Wadhal.

Drawing on a traditional South Asian typology, the stepwell is reinterpreted as a sculptural element that rationalises access, while being deliberately irrational in its formal articulation.

The fully refurbished interiors result in a contemporary home where old and new collide, characterised by the considered and contrasting use of stainless steel mesh.
