Competition: five digital Dieter Rams monographs to be won

Competition: Dezeen has teamed up with British publisher Phaidon to give away five iBook editions of a new Dieter Rams monograph.

Written by British author and curator Sophie Lovell, Dieter Rams: As Little Design as Possible is a comprehensive monograph that spans the German designer's 40-year career at consumer products company Braun.

Rams held the position of chief design officer at Braun for 34 years, where he was responsible for designing iconic utility objects such as radios, clocks, shelving units and music players.

His products are considered to be functional, elegant and even prescient, while his ten principles of design have left a lasting impression on designers around the world.

The original hardback book has been reformatted and updated in this iBook format for iPad and Mac, and features a foreword by Jonathan Ive, the senior vice president of design at Apple.

Through a combination of technical drawings, sketches and images of finished products, Phaidon's monograph explores Rams' functional design philosophy and his distinctive aesthetic.
