Yoo is a residential and hotel design brand known for creating idiosyncratic residences and collaborations with high-profile designers. It was founded by entrepreneur John Hitchcox alongside prolific French designer Philippe Starck.
In this talk, Dezeen's editor-in-chief Marcus Fairs speaks to Hoppen and Wanders – Yoo's two creative directors – and Hitchcox about how architecture and design can foster and maintain a sense of community.
Hoppen is an interior designer who has been awarded an MBE for her work. She has designed 181 villas for Yoo in Pune, India, as well the interiors for the brand's lakeside residences in the Cotswolds.
Wanders, who is described by The New York Times as 'the Lady Gaga of the design world,' is best known as co-founder of furniture brand Moooi. His collaborations with Yoo include the interiors of the Oh! residence in Quito, Ecuador and the Mira Moon hotel in Hong Kong.
