"Absolutely fantastic for the team"

During a live conversation as part of Dezeen's Virtual Design Festival last week, London based interior designer Sevil Peach said that winning interior designer of the year 2019 at Dezeen Awards was "absolutely fantastic for the team."

"I think it's a validation of one's efforts, maybe talent, and it's a reward of the team's hard work," says Peach. "Our clients like the idea of us winning an award because it becomes a validation for them as well."

"A lovely, unexpected surprise"

"Winning the Dezeen Award gave us an incredible amount of international exposure opening us up to so many new opportunities – projects with amazing sites, briefs and clients," said Alex Mok, co-founder of architecture and interior design studio Linehouse.

"It has also been an important validation for our past and current clients that the projects we completed together were indeed unique," she added.

Linehouse was named emerging interior design studio of the year and Alex Mok remains involved in the programme as she takes on the role of judging the interiors categories alongside 75 other industry professionals.

"Winning constitutes a benchmark for our studio’s growth and transformation over the years"

Amsterdam-based Studio Drift was named design studio of the year and also won in the lighting design of the year category with their project Franchise Freedom.

"We were incredibly surprised and honoured to win the design studio of the year award," said co-founder Lonneke Gordijn.

"It makes us feel fulfilled that so many people value our work, and it motivates us to keep creating."

"This award has actually led to an increase in enquiries"

Tokyo-based design studio Takt Project won the emerging design studio of the year award at Dezeen Awards 2019.

Founder Satoshi Yoshiizumi explained that winning the studio award has led to increased "opportunities to work with international clients" and has prompted the studio to "refurbish their website."

"Winning a Dezeen Award was one of our greatest wishes," explained Yoshiizumi. "I am sure that winning was a turning point for us."
