Dezeen Awards, which is now in its fourth year, celebrates the world's best architecture, interiors and design, and the individuals and studios who are behind it. Start your entry now for your chance to win.

There are 36 project categories across architecture, interiors and design as well as six studio categories and our new media and sustainability categories.

Who will be judging Dezeen Awards 2021?

Judging this year's programme is a panel of 75 industry-leading professionals across architecture, design, journalism, and curation as well as experts in the fields of sustainability and media for our newly introduced categories.

Dezeen is committed to a transparent, rigorous judging process carried out by a gender-balanced panel which represents a wide, geographical spread. You can read more on our judges page.

Architecture judges

Among those judging the architecture categories are architect Rafael Viñoly, Noelia Monteiro of Estudio Flume, architect and engineer Cecil Balmond, Spanish architect Carme Pinos, Ole Scheeren of Büro Ole Scheeren, French architect Lina Ghotmeh and Ricardo Scofidio of Diller Scofidio and Renfro.

Interiors judges

Judging the interior categories are designer, curator and consultant Mlondolozi Hempe, Seoul-based studio founder Teo Yang, luxury home textiles designer Eva Sonaike, Ben Allen of Studio Ben Allen, American designer Kelly Wearstler, interior designer Martin Brudnizki and British designer Anouska Hempel, to name just a few.

Design judges

Among those judging the design categories are founder of Counterspace Sumayya Vally, founding partners of Studio Other Spaces Olafur Eliasson and Sebastian Behmann, Dutch designer and innovator Richard Hutten, British designer Jasper Conran, multidisciplinary designer Karim Rashid and Karin Gustafsson of COS.

Sustainability judges

Environmental design writer Katie Treggiden will head up the sustainability judging panel.

Other judges include sustainability experts Nick Shute of Dodds and Shute, Simon Hamilton of Design Career Consulting, Seetal Solanki of London design studio Ma-tt-er, Hester van Dijk of co-founder of Overtreders W, engineer, architect and innovator Arthur Huang, co-founder of Nature Squared Lay Koon Tan, and furniture designer Sebastian Cox.

Media judges

Overseeing the media panel is filmmaker Gary Hustwit.

He will be joined by architect and director Liam Young, graphic designer Micha Weidmann, architectural photographer Fernando Guerra, photographer and artist Jeanette Hägglund, writer and curator Priya Khanchandani , Emmy award-winning director Oliver Manzi, architect Charlotte Skene Catling, Emmy award-winning director and designer Karin Fong, and illustrator, media consultant and podcast host Justyna Green.

What is the judging criteria?

The panels will judge projects and products based on Dezeen Awards' three main criteria - beautiful, innovative and beneficial. They will also be selecting architecture and design studios that show strong vision and achievement for the studio awards.

The sustainability judges will look for projects that strive to reduce their impact on people and the planet.

The media judges will be looking for beautiful, engaging content and technical mastery, and will reward excellence in the way architecture, interiors and design are communicated and promoted.
