British architect Norman Foster is the latest industry leader to be announced as a member of the judging panel for Dezeen Awards 2026.
Dezeen Awards, in partnership with Trimble, is searching for the world's best architecture, interiors and design. The search finally concludes this coming Wednesday, 3 June at 23:59 London time – there will be no extension to the deadline.
Read on for more as "the most successful architect in history" joins this year's panel.
Foster to judge Dezeen Awards 2026
Foster, whose career spans nearly six decades, is renowned as one of the industry's most prolific names.
He leads international studio Foster + Partners, which he founded in 1967, and is behind some of the most notable projects in the world. The architect's oeuvre reflects his impact as a pioneer and proponent of high-tech architecture.
Landmark projects include the HSBC Building in Hong Kong, London Stansted Airport and Apple Park, USA.
In an interview with Dezeen, Foster expanded on the importance of "architecture without architects", advocating for the lessons the industry can take from using buildings constructed with local materials and with passive design strategies.
Last year, on the eve of his 90th birthday, Dezeen explored how the Manchester-born architect grew to become the most successful architect in history, speaking to former colleagues and industry peers – including Foster himself.
Still highly prolific, he remains at the helm of the global architectural powerhouse as executive chairman, while also serving as president of the Norman Foster Foundation – an initiative that promotes interdisciplinary thinking and research to help new generations of architects, designers and urbanists anticipate the future.
Recent projects by Foster + Partners include an art gallery wrapped in with ribbed glass facades, a supertall skyscraper in Manhattan and a museum signalled by soaring ventilation towers modelled on the wings of a falcon.
Other projects include a bespoke time capsule created to mark the USA's 250th anniversary of independence. It will be buried under the plaza at Washington Monument and is destined to be reopened on 4th July 2276 for the USA's 500th Independence Day.
Foster is the latest judge to be announced as part of this year's Dezeen Awards judging panel.
He will join the architecture panel alongside Daniel Libeskind, Massimiliano Fuksas and Amanda Levete as well as Malini Doshi, Dominique Petit-Frère and Annabelle Selldorf.
