Architecture studio HNTB has unveiled the design of an 18,000-seat arena in Plano, Texas, for the Dallas Stars NHL team.
Set to be built as part of a wider "year-round district", the arena will be the permanent home for the Dallas Stars National Hockey League (NHL) team.
The area will be located alongside the Dallas North Tollway, around 20 miles north of its current home in the American Airlines Center in Downtown Dallas.
Few details of the arena have been announced, with renderings showing an irregularly shaped venue embedded behind by mid-rise blocks.
"The most memorable arenas become part of the identity of a city and its people," said HNTB chief design officer Ryan Gedney.
"Our goal is to create a home that is unmistakably rooted in the identity of the Dallas Stars, one that captures the passion and intensity of hockey while reflecting the unique character and culture of north Texas."
The arena forms the centrepiece of a wider development of mid-rise buildings along with a taller office tower.
HNTB expressed how integrating the team into the community was a key part of the design strategy.
"Great arenas create unforgettable moments, but the very best become places that communities embrace every day of the year," said Gedney.
"By seamlessly integrating the arena with an active, year-round district, we have an opportunity to establish a new benchmark for how sports, entertainment and community come together to create lasting value for fans, the franchise and the region."
The Dallas Stars is the latest US sports team to announce plans to create a new home, with NFL team Kansas City Chiefs recently releasing plans for a 70,000-seat stadium designed by Manica and the Washington Commanders are planning a colonnaded stadium design by HKS.
