The Royal College of Pathologists
by Bennetts Associates

Shortlisted for business building of the year at Dezeen Awards 2019, The Royal College of Pathologists by Bennetts Associates is a purpose-built headquarters based in east London.

The 4,500-metre-square building in Aldgate marks the final step in the college’s move from its heritage listed buildings in St James' in central London to contemporary purpose-built premises. The design of the new headquarters addresses the college’s mission to advance the science and practice of pathology and to better serve its membership. This is Bennetts Associates’ third and largest project for the Royal College of Pathologists, over 20 years after the practice worked on the refurbishment of its previous headquarters. The building, which occupies the site of a demolished 1980s building, has angled windows in deep reveals that zig-zag across the elevation. The new headquarters provides workspaces and social spaces, educational areas, and spaces for exhibitions and meetings. Functions have been split between floors, linked by bright, open voids.
