Project Ö

Archmospheres

Project Ö is a rural housing project comprising two cabins that shelter living spaces, bedrooms, a workshop and a sauna.

Finnish designers Aleksi Hautamäki and Milla Selkimäki bought an island on the edge of Finland's Archipelago National Park and built two cabins.

The cabins are called Project Ö, which is named after the Swedish word for island. The aim was to make the cabins as compact as possible, without sacrificing comfort or aesthetics.

The island is self-sufficient: water is filtered from the sea and heated by a sauna stove, and the solar electricity is stored in large batteries.

This project has been longlisted in the rural house category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
