Designed by Azaz Architects, Deco Temple is a coffee shop with overreaching arches in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The studio has transformed the structural skeleton into a commercial space that belongs to the local culture of Saudi Arabia.

The central structural column was initially an obstruction being in the centre of the space. However, the design turned it into a focal point where Islamic arches are overreached into different directions.

The usage of material also was carefully considered to enhance the local character. Mud finishing covers all the new hanging walls, which contrasts with the Italian terrazzo on the floor, both framing the deep blue spiral.

This project has been longlisted in the restaurant interior category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
