PSLab London
by JamesPlumb

Rory Gardiner

JamesPlumb has designed lighting brand PSLab's London headquarters, which features concrete plinths to evoke "quiet brutalism".

Housed within a late Victorian warehouse on an inconspicuous side street in southeast London, PSLab's new home provides a stage for the exhibition and explanation of light and optics.

Grounded in hospitality, it is neither an office nor a showroom, yet it serves both these functions.

Designed by local studio JamesPlumb in close dialogue with PSLab, the discreet space has been stripped back to reveal the core structure of the building comprising steel, brick, concrete and sunken pits formerly used for dying in the tannery industry.

This project has been longlisted in the large retail interior category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
