Design studio SLA has designed Sankt Kjelds Square and Bryggervangen in Copenhagen, a new landmark highlighting blue-green climate adaptation.

Through its nature-based design approach, the project increases the neighborhood's biodiversity, climate-adapts the area, reduces noise and air pollution, increases the health and quality of life of local citizens, as well as reducing the urban heat-island effect.

The result is a transformation from grey infrastructure to new city nature; with 586 new trees of 48 local species. The space is aesthetic and functional, biodiverse and sustainable, green and blue, climate adaptable, and creates a sense of community for the neighbourhood.

This project has been longlisted in the landscape project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
