Ris Interior Design has revamped a 1970s three-storey terraced house into an office in Taiwan.

Established in Taichung City, XOR Creative Research is the workplace of a group of designers who believe in design underpinned by creativity, preserving cultural undertones, and creating useful function.

Ris Interior Design created the workplace interiors as a contemporary response to the old structure. The studio preserved cultural values and aimed to cater for different sized gatherings and talks.

Despite a long, narrow plan which reduced daylight, natural light was favoured over illumination devices to create a better living condition, while also being more eco-friendly. Glass and mirrors were added to the front area to allow light in and wide floor windows in the conference centre create an airy room with attractive views.

This project has been longlisted in the small workspace interior project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
