Jörg Hugo has designed Ceramic Bodies 02 in Berlin, Germany.

This project is an iteration of evolving research exploring self-forming processes of viscous materials in stretchable moulds under force – a process which is closely linked to the understanding of its boundary conditions defined by the designer Jörg Hugo.

The Ceramic Bodies 02 reflect an interplay between the viscosity of plaster, an elastic mould and the outer constraints. Due to different viscosities, there is a hierarchy of soft interlocking within their boundary.

By different degrees of hardening and various size and orientation, the four bodies fit together to form a three-dimensional puzzle, the basis for the manufacturing process of porcelain vases.

This project has been longlisted in the homeware design category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
