Maurizio Montalti is founder and creative director of Amsterdam-based design practice Officina Corpuscoli.

Working at the junction of design and biotech, Montalti is one of the pioneers in the study and development of mycelium-based technologies and products.

Montalti is co-founder and chairman of SQIM, a biotechnology company exploring the potential of mycelium in biofabrication, the production of complex biologic products from raw materials such as living cells, matrices, biomaterials, and molecules, and also technology.

SQIM has created a variety of biomaterials, substances that have been engineered to interact with biological systems, and products that are divided into two sub-brands. Mogu is focused on interior design and architecture and Ephea on fashion and the automotive industry.

Montalti’s work has won numerous accolades, has featured in global media and has been exhibited worldwide in museums including the MoMA, Centre Pompidou, Design Museum and MAXXI among others.
