YOD Group has created and conceptualised the Hay Boutique Hotel in Polyanytsya, Ukraine.

"The concept of the hotel grew out of admiration for the luxurious Carpathian nature," said YOD Group. "The botanical atlas includes 88 varieties of local herbs."

On hot summer days, the sun burns the grasses on the meadows, turning them into fragrant hay that gently rustles underfoot. This hay gave the hotel its name and became a central theme in its design.

The Hay Boutique Hotel features 40 rooms; the interior has restrained tones and rich textures, while the central theme of the place is locality.

Hay's interiors interpret traditional Ukrainian crafts such as woodwork, weaving and blacksmithing – not directly, but through their creative interpretation.

This project has been longlisted in the hotel and short stay interior category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
